New iOS and android app for Police Mutual
New communication iOS and Android app for Police Mutual
The Police Mutual Assurance Society has been helping police officers, staff and their families with their finances since 1866. Today, it has more than 200,000 members. We recently created a new iOS and Android app for Police Mutual's members.
Overview
Police Mutual is a not-for-profit organisation run by, and for, its members. It offers a range of products and advice around savings and investments, insurance, personal loans, mortgages, pensions and healthcare. The society has no shareholders, so it can use its resources to improve the lives of members and invest in their wellbeing.
Police Mutual has a network of Police Force Authorised Officers (FAOs) and Police Authorised Officers (AOs) who are serving police officers and police staff. They volunteer their time to promote Police Mutual products and services in their respective forces.
The FAO AO communication iOS and Android app
Police Mutual needed to create a communication app for these officers to help them communicate with members. Haywyre was chosen to design and develop an app that could be downloaded by the FAOs and AOs. The app also allows members of the society to learn more about the help available to them.
Prototype Development
We worked closely with a team from Police Mutual to create an interactive prototype. This allowed us to test concepts and ideas out with the people who would use the finished app before we started building it.
How does the app work?
The FAOs and AOs receive a unique log-in to access training and marketing materials, community updates and best practice information. The app provides quick and safe access to: information about Police Mutual, product information, latest news, articles and special offers, upcoming events, member account login, useful links, and contact details.
The app runs on Apple (iOS) and Google (Android) phones. It can be downloaded from both their app stores. The content is controlled by Police Mutual using the same content management system that runs its website. We used industry-leading business tools including Agile/Sprint project management, Monday.com, Adobe XD and Jira.
The Outcome
We had a clear understanding of the timescales and targets for the project. Our collaborative approach to building a prototype and incorporating the ideas and feedback of the people who would need to use the app enabled us to build a solution that met the needs of Police Mutual.
