What you actually get

Six things, in writing

The audit is a fixed-scope product. This is what lands on your desk, in order.

01

A compliance checklist for every page

Which WCAG criteria pass and fail at your chosen level — produced at the start, and again at the end so you can see the movement.

02

A full issue report

Every problem found, why it matters, who it affects and the recommended fix. Prioritised.

03

Remediation

We implement the fixes with you, to your brand and your existing build.

04

Reusable compliant components

Components and page templates, so what you add later stays compliant after we’ve gone.

05

Verification

Each issue re-tested and signed off, and your report updated.

06

A forward plan

So each iteration of your site is more accessible than the last.

Why now

Why organisations are doing this now

Not only the right thing. The thing that widens your audience, improves your search and cuts your risk.

It’s the law in more places

The European Accessibility Act has applied since June 2025 and reaches UK firms selling into the EU. The Equality Act already requires reasonable adjustments; public sector bodies have had dedicated regulations since 2018.

It’s good for search

Semantic markup, descriptive alt text, sensible heading structure and clear link text are accessibility requirements and SEO fundamentals at the same time.

It’s cheaper now than later

Accessible templates and components built into a project cost a fraction of retrofitting a live site under time pressure.

It’s better for everyone

Captions help in noisy offices. Good contrast helps in sunlight. Keyboard navigation helps power users. Accessible design is just better design.

Process

How an audit works

Four steps, one report — produced at the start and updated at the end, so you can see the movement.

01

Baseline

Every page checked against WCAG 2.2 at your chosen level: an automated sweep with WAVE, Lighthouse and Silktide, then a manual pass with screen readers, keyboard-only and magnification.

02

Report

Every issue logged with who it affects, why it matters and the fix — prioritised, in plain English.

03

Remediate

Fixed with you, to your brand and your build. Reusable compliant components left behind.

04

Verify and plan

Each issue re-tested and signed off, your report updated, and a forward plan for the next iteration.

Common questions

Before you book

Which WCAG level do I need?

Level A is the minimum. Level AA is the practical standard for almost everyone and the level most legislation points at — it is what we recommend for any public-facing site. Level AAA is generally only pursued where the audience makes it necessary. We’ll help you pick.

Which version — 2.1 or 2.2?

WCAG 2.2 is the current W3C recommendation and the one we test against. Most legal frameworks still reference 2.1 AA, and everything that passes 2.2 passes 2.1. WCAG 3.0 is years from being enforceable — not something to wait for.

How is this different from ordinary testing?

Ordinary testing asks whether the site works. An audit asks whether it works for everyone: screen readers, keyboard, contrast, alt text, focus. Those failures are invisible to normal QA right up until they exclude someone.

How often should we audit?

Accessibility is not a one-off — standards get updated and so do you. Most clients pair an initial audit with a lighter annual re-check.

Do we need in-house expertise?

No. We do the testing, explain the findings in plain English, and do the fixing.

What about apps?

The same standard applies. We audit and remediate iOS and Android apps as well as websites.
